Q. What has happened so far?
The first stage of the District Plan Review is now complete. In it we asked you to help us identify what significant resource management issues were facing Hamilton. Public comments closed on 28 February 2010.
Q. What is happening now?
1 September sees the release of public documents for stage two of Hamilton's District Plan Review. The documents form the next steps in Council's 2 year review of the District Plan and outline a range of options which Council has developed that could make sure Hamilton’s growth is smart. The summary document - Snapshot - will arrive in residential and business letterboxes the last week of August. Copies of Snapshot and the full report and discussion document - Big Picture, are available to download in this site's library as well at all branches of Hamilton Libraries. Be sure to have your say by taking part in any of the quick surveys or furums on this site.
Q. How can I have a say?
We would like to hear your comments and whether you agree or disagree with the options that could be used to address issues in Hamilton. To tell us what you think, complete the feedback form inside the full report - Big Picture, or take part in any of the quick surveys or forums in this site.
Q. How will public feedback be used?
The period for public comments closes on 29 October 2010. At this time Council will consider all feedback received and make a decision on what options to take forward. Early in the New Year we will publicly confirm the options to take forward. A proposed District Plan based on these will be prepared.
Q. When will the new District Plan be finalised?
In early 2012, the Proposed District Plan will be notified. This is when you will be asked what you think about the new District Plan for Hamilton.
